Jumpy Jelly is an infinite jumper game for Android mobile devices.

The game was created in 2018 over the course of around six months. It was the brainchild of Tomoya Hamasaki, who wanted to take Flappy Bird and add a twist to the formula.

I was responsible for programming this game in C# using the Unity3D engine.

Jumpy Jelly was designed as a casual game that is quick to get into. Each play session is intended to only last a few minutes.

As mentioned, the game was inspired by Flappy Bird. And much like Flappy Bird, the player can tap at any time to make their character jump.

Unlike Flappy Bird, the player does not move forward. Instead, they remain at the center of the screen while obstacles come towards them.

These obstacles range from throwing knifes to cleavers, the idea being that the player controls various types of reanimated food inside a kitchen while being attacked by an angry chef.

Unfortanately, the game was not the success we had hoped it would be. Given the highly competitive nature of the Google Play Store, combined with our inability to advertise the game, it received very little attention.

There was some discussion to release the game on the Amazon App Store, however this was never completed.

A Steam release was also discussed, which would have recreated the graphics with 3D models and added in new gamemodes. This too was never completed.

Some time after the game's release, the development team was disbanded, ending development of the game.

Due to a fraudlent DMCA claim, the game was taken down from the Play Store. Due to its lack of success, there was little motivation to dispute the claim.

For anyone that wishes to play it today however, a web-based build of the game can be found here.
